There is an Arab proverb that goes something like "A man who waits 7 years to avenge himself upon his father's killer acts in haste".
Revenge is so much sweeter when the person who did you wrong isn't expecting it.

They're called pirates. They wanted your loot.
And when you don't have any loot? Are they still "pirates" when they kill you in a shuttle? Or your pod? Or can you accept that there are people out there who get kicks from gratuitous actions that have no real gain for them?

Originally by: Dark Shikari Do you seriously think that newbies should get a "get out of pirate camp free" card? Are they special?
Do you realize that the best loot is often carried by alts in shuttles?
I notice that you didn't actually answer my questions, nor those of the original poster.
If these so-called pirates really cared only about loot, they'd use ship and cargo scanners and they'd know whether it was worthwhile to engage another ship. So when someone opens fire on a ship that has no worthwhile loot or useful cargo, it must be because of something other than loot.
Would a mugger stick a gun in everyone's face if he had a way to see if passersby had money in their wallets?
As for your allegation that the best loot is carried by alts in shuttles, I remain skeptical. A 10m3 cargo bay doesn't allow for the transport of a lot of loot, and a shuttle doesn't offer much protection for such valuable items. People don't tend to make instas for such loot runs, and if they do... I bet they aren't carrying that loot when they do it.
Now, would you care to address the actual issue at hand?

As I said, transporting such a valuable item in a shuttle is foolish. If he's got that kind of bread, he should be able to afford a more durable form of transportation for his precious goods.

Originally by: Wee Dave A battleship is not going to survive against a ten person gate camp. Unless you have a big convoy, it will ultimately come down to speed and agility.
There are ships that have better speed (and probably also agility) than a shuttle and better defensive capability to boot. Trusting a 10 Billion ISK BPO to a shuttle in hostile territory is as foolish as driving through South Central on a bicycle with a backpack full of $100 bills.
